Great Things Happening in Our Schools

Great Things Happening in Our Schools

Oct 5, 2026 | Chamber News

As we move into the fall, I wanted to share a few things happening in our school buildings. Our students are doing great things, and that is really the best part of this job.

At Nordonia High School, students have been busy with Safe Decisions Week, Homecoming, leadership activities, and mental health awareness. A group of student athletes recently attended the Youth Hope Initiative and heard Kevin Love speak about mental health. Our Pep Club also worked with students from Nordonia Middle School and Lee Eaton Intermediate School to help build positive student leadership and school spirit at football games. I love seeing our older students take time to help younger students feel connected.

At Nordonia Middle School, students are off to a strong start. They took part in the leadership workshop at the high school, and the building has been focused on student growth, school culture, and getting better each week. Middle school can be a challenging age, but it is also a great time to help students find their voice and take more ownership of their school.

At Lee Eaton Intermediate School, there is a lot to be proud of. Lee Eaton earned an overall five-star rating on the Ohio School Report Card for the third year in a row. Students also had a chance to see the high school band and Synergy as part of band and choir recruitment. That kind of connection between buildings is important. It helps students see what opportunities are ahead of them.

At Rushwood Elementary School, the students and families have been busy. The Men of Rushwood hosted a pizza dance night, and the annual Walk-A-Thon exceeded its goal. These are the kinds of events kids remember. They build school pride and give families a chance to be part of the building.

At Northfield Elementary School, students have been focused on respect as the character trait for September. The building has also added more after-school opportunities, including art, Spanish, basketball, and other clubs. I appreciate seeing students have more chances to find something they enjoy and feel connected to school.

At Ledgeview Elementary School, students, staff, and families had a great start to the fall. The building held its annual Walk-A-Thon and also hosted its first Father’s Walk, with families gathering at Our Lady of Guadalupe before walking students to school. Those moments matter. They help students see that school and community go together.

Across the district, our students are learning, leading, performing, helping, and growing. They are showing up in classrooms, on athletic fields, in clubs, in music programs, and in service to others. There is a lot to be proud of in Nordonia, and most of it starts with our kids.

Thank you to our staff, families, PTAs, and community partners for continuing to support them.
