This time of year gives us a clear picture of what is happening in our schools. When you walk through our buildings, you see students learning, growing, and taking steps forward. There is a lot to be proud of across Nordonia.
At Nordonia High School, our juniors recently completed the ACT. This is an important milestone as they begin to think about college and career options. We also hosted our largest STEM event, with over 600 students and more than 30 organizations involved. Students had the opportunity to connect what they are learning in school to real opportunities beyond graduation.
At Nordonia Middle School, staff continue to meet the needs of all students. There has been an increase in students requiring individualized testing and support, and our team has worked to ensure every student has access to what they need. This work reflects a strong commitment to supporting each student.
At Lee Eaton Intermediate School, we are seeing steady academic growth. More students are moving toward proficiency, and that progress is tied to focused instruction and targeted support. Students are gaining confidence as they see their own improvement.
At Rushwood Elementary, students set and reached a goal of reading over one million minutes. That kind of achievement comes from consistent effort in the classroom and strong support from teachers and families. It is a great example of what students can accomplish when everyone works together.
At Northfield Elementary, students and families raised over $1,700 through their “Coin Wars” effort to support Special Olympics. This shows students learning the importance of helping others and being part of a community.
At Ledgeview Elementary, students participated in career week and heard from adults about different professions. These experiences help students begin to think about their future and understand the many paths available to them.
Across all of our schools, our students are working hard and our staff are supporting them every day. You can see it in classrooms, in performances, in activities, and in the way students interact with one another.
Our community takes pride in its schools, and that shows in the way people support our students and staff. That support matters and helps create the kind of environment where students can succeed. We will keep our focus where it belongs, on our students and the work happening in our classrooms each day.
